Lied Discovery Children’s Museum has been recognized both nationally and statewide for quality programming and creative education: - Lied Discovery Children's Museum was named Best in Nevada by Nevada Magazine in its July 2010 issue. LDCM won the honor for Best Museum in the southern part of the state.
- Lied Discovery Children's Museum was voted Best Museum in Las Vegas in 2010 by the readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal in the newspaper's annual Best of Las Vegas poll. The museum has been recognized in the Best of Las Vegas poll 18 times.
- LDCM won Best Kids' Party Place in the 2009 Parents' Picks Awards held by Nickelodeon's ParentsConnect.Com. LDCM also won Best Museum and Best Indoor Playspace/Partyspace in the 2008 Parents' Picks.
- LDCM was named Best Place to Take the Kids by Las Vegas Weekly in its 2009 Vegas' Best issue.
- Early Childhood Initiative at Lied Discovery Children’s Museum received the American Association of Youth Museums/Metropolitan Life Foundation’s Promising Practices Award in 1999. This is the most prestigious award in the children’s museum field.
- In October 2001, Lied Discovery Children's Museum was honored with The Governor’s Award in the Humanities from the Nevada Humanities Committee because of the “staff’s energy and creativity and our record of reaching substantial numbers of students and teachers.”
- Lied Discovery Children’s Museum was chosen as the host organization for the State of Nevada for the Artists & Communities: America Creates for the Millennium project. Artists & Communities is a nationwide project of the National Endowment for the Arts in celebration of the Millennium. In the year 2000, a Millennium Artist worked in each of the 50 states and six territories, in collaboration with a community host organization, on projects addressing issues relating to values, families, health, cultural diversity and community.
- The museum was selected by the National Science Foundation for seven consecutive years as the official State of Nevada site for the celebration of National Science and Technology Week (NSTW).
